The History of the Clemente Museum
The Clemente Museum is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is dedicated to the life and career of Major League Baseball player Roberto Clemente. The museum was founded in 2007 by Duane Rieder. The third floor of the old fire hall is now the location of Rieder’s photography study. In the basement, Rieder has a winery, Engine House 25 Wines, which also offers private tours and allows purchasing of the products.
The Clement Museum’s showroom houses a collection of Clemente’s personal belongings, including his baseball bat, glove, and many of his personal belongings, which were supplied to the museum by Roberto’s wife, Vera Clemente. The museum also features displays on Clemente’s life, career, and humanitarian work.
While visiting the museum, we had a wonderful tour provided by Gary. He was very informative on the life and stories of Roberto Clemente. We truly enjoyed our visit here and highly recommend that anyone who is in the area schedule a visit to tour the location for yourself.
The Collection of the Clemente Museum
The Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is home to a large collection of baseball memorabilia. The museum is named after former Pittsburgh Pirates player Roberto Clemente. Clemente was a Puerto Rican native who played 18 seasons with the Pirates. He was a 10-time All-Star and won the National League MVP award in 1966. Clemente was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
The Clemente Museum houses many items that belonged to Clemente, including his World Series rings, Gold Glove awards, and MVP trophy. The museum also has uniforms worn by Clemente during his career, as well as bats, balls, and other equipment used by him. The museum’s collection also includes photographs, newspaper articles, and other memorabilia related to Clemente’s life and career.
How to Visit the Clemente Museum
The Clemente Museum is located at 3339 Penn Avenue in the historic Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The museum is open for tours by appointment only, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. You should schedule your visit online ahead of time.
Visitors can explore the museum by taking part in a guided tour led by one of the knowledgeable staff members. The tours last approximately one hour.
