Niagara Falls, Ontario

In November, we went on a short weekend getaway to visit Niagara Falls, Ontario. It has been a few years since we were last in the city. We had a great time! We were able to see the falls, visit a few of the attractions, and enjoy family time.

About the City

Niagara Falls, Ontario, is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada. The city is situated on the western bank of the Niagara River in the Golden Horseshoe region of Central Ontario. Niagara Falls is one of Canada’s most populous cities, with a population of 88,071 at the 2016 census. It is adjacent to Niagara Falls, New York.

The falls were formed 12,000 years ago during the last ice age when glaciers receded, and water from Lake Erie flowed through the Niagara Escarpment into the Niagara River. The river then carved out the falls and gorge over thousands of years. Today, Niagara Falls is a major tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors each year. The falls are renowned both for their beauty and as a source of hydroelectric power.
